Complete Installation SAP GUI 740 and BEx Frontend
This page describes the steps for installation of SAP GUI 740 and BEx Frontend inlcuding the BEx Applications and Precalculation Server.1 - Software & Hardware Requirements
Following notes describe general information, Software & Hardware requirements and limitations for BEx Analyzer:

Supported versions of:
- Windows Operating Systems: Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 2008 Server, 2008 R2 Server
- Microsoft Excel (ONLY 32 BIT): 2007, 2010, 2013
- Microsoft Office 365 - Please read detail information in note 1973324.
- SAP NetWeaver BW: 700, 701, 702, 703, 710, 711, 720, 730, 731, 740
Please note:
- SAP GUI and BEx Frontend must have the same version (for e.g. SAP GUI 7.40 fits to BI Add-On based on 7.40)
- Its strongly recommended to use the latest patches of SAP GUI and BEx Frontend.
- Office 64 BIT versions are NOT supported for BEx tools, see note 1995532.
2 - The installation includes:
- SAP GUI for Windows 740
- SAP GUI Patch
- SAP BI Addon 7.0 for SAP GUI
- BI 7.0 AddOn Patch for GUI
- xPreCalServer (only for Precalculation Server)
3 - Preparing the installation:
- Download the Frontend-DVD from the SAP Service Market Place: https://service.sap.com/swdc.
- Navigate like following:
- Installations and Upgrades
- Browse our Download Catalog
- SAP Frontend Components
- SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS
- SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.40 CORE
- Installation
- Instead navigation you can use this direct link.
- Start download of file with title "NW 7.0 Presentation - 7.40 Compilation 1 Present. 1"
- Navigate like following:
- Extract the Frontend-DVD ZIP file.
- Click here: Current BI ADDON for SAP GUI 740 to download latest patchs from SAP Service Market Place:
- SAP GUI Patch,
- BI 7.0 Addon Patch and
- Precalculation Server (only for Precalculation Server)
4 - Installation steps:
- uninstall the Frontend and SAP GUI
Windows > Start > Control Panel > Program and Features > remove
- SAP Business Explorer
- SAP GUI for Windows 7.x
- SAP BW Preclaculation Service (only on Precalculation Server) - make sure that that bw containing folders were deleted:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\Business Explorer\BI
- C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\Business Explorer\BI_Prec (only on Precalculation Server)
- C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\FrontEnd\Bw
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SAP Shared\BW - start the Front-End Installer from Frontend-CD:
- folder: ...\BD_NW_7.0_Presentation_7.40_Comp._1_\PRES1\GUI\WINDOWS\WIN32
- file: SetupAll.exe
- select/install ...
[x] SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 (Compilation 1)
[x] Business Explorer
- update to latest SAP GUI patch
- update to latest SAP BI AddOn patch
- install SAP BW Precalculation Service (only for Precalculation Server)
- Folder: ...\BD_NW_7.0_Presentation_7.40_Comp._1_\PRES1\BI_PreCalServer
- file: SetupAll.exe
- select/install ...
[x] SAP BW Precalculation Service
- update to latest SAP BW Precalculation patch
